East German general election, 1990
On 18 March, 1990, the first free elections to the People's Chamber took place in the GDR. The PDS celebrates its election night party in the former Reichsbank building of the SED at Werdersche Markt in Berlin. In the GDR, 18 per cent of the votes go to the PDS, and in some districts of East Berlin it gets 50 per cent of the vote.
