Queer feminist activists rave against patriarchy
Germany, Berlin, December 06, 2020: The silhouette of a person holding a Progress flag can be seen as queer feminist activist groups rally against patriarchal and repressive behavior at the Pariser Platz in front of the Brandenburg Gate. The organizers want to draw attention to the increased sexism and domestic violence during quarantine as a consequence of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic and criticize the current legal situation regarding abortion in both Poland and Germany. Poland's constitutional court, controlled by the national populist ruling party PiS, has declared the current abortion law unconstitutional on 22 October 2020, resulting in an almost complete ban on abortion. The Progress flag was designed in 2017 by the non-binary graphic designer Daniel Quasar. This variation of the original rainbow flag contains a wedge on the left side in colors of the Trans-Pride flag and in brown and black, the colors of the marginalized communities.
