Hohenschwangau Castle in the Allgau

The Benedictine monastery Banz

Banz Abbey, situated on a hill above the right bank of the Main, was founded around 1069 as a Benedictine monastery. The preserved Baroque building was built in 1689. From 1709 to 1719 the construction management was in the hands of the brothers Johann (1665-1725) and Johann Leonhard Dientzenhofer (1660-1707). While the building itself has elements of the Baroque, the interior has a sumptuous Rococo interior.
